Tony D’Aloisio, chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, has been appointed the new chairman of the Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators, which coordinates regulators in the banking, securities and insurance sectors.

The Joint Forum’s parent organizations, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the International Organization of Securities Commissions, and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, announced the appointment of D’Aloisio to succeed John Dugan of the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The two-year appointment is effective January 1.

D’Aloisio said, “I am honoured to have been appointed to this important position in international financial regulation and look forward to continuing to build on the cooperation across the banking, insurance and securities sectors.”
