The Madrid-based International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has named its leadership group for 2020-2022, despite having postponed its annual meeting until November due to Covid-19,
IOSCO usually holds its annual meeting in June. While the bulk of the group’s AGM agenda has been delayed, the group announced that its board re-elected Ashley Alder, CEO of SFC Hong Kong, as its chair; and, Jean-Paul Servais, chairman of FSMA Belgium, as a vice chair.
Additionally, the new chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Heath Tarbert, was named a new vice chair of the global regulatory group.
“Together, I believe we comprise a strong leadership team which will continue to direct IOSCO’s efforts in addressing issues related to IOSCO’s core objectives of safeguarding investor protection, market integrity and financial stability,” Alder said in a release.
“As our recent experience with Covid-19 demonstrates, IOSCO plays a central role in ensuring markets are resilient and able to serve the real economy,” he added.
The remainder of IOSCO’s AGM will take place in Dubai on November 16–18.
