In a bid to help bolster regulators’ investor education efforts, and to enhance public access to investor education, the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has launched a new online tool.
IOSCO’s announced the launch of its new Investor Education Gateway Tuesday, which aims to facilitate access to its members’ investor education materials, as well as IOSCO’s own publications and presentations regarding investor education.
“This new online tool is part of IOSCO’s broader investor education initiative and aims to enhance the sharing of investor education information among IOSCO members and the public,” it says.
The umbrella group of securities regulators notes that it is committed to developing a comprehensive strategy to advance investor protection and education, including: organizing special investor education programs; establishing strategic partnerships that will advance IOSCO’s own investor education initiative and benefit IOSCO members; and, sharing investor education information, research and resources with its members.
“Investor education is an important element of investor protection, growing in importance and at the heart of IOSCO’s work and all of IOSCO’s members’ interests. Through the Investor Education Gateway we can share with the general public all the outstanding online efforts that our members are conducting with respect to investor education,” said David Wright, IOSCO’s secretary general.
It notes that investor education information from 40 of its members is already on the website, and that this will grow as more information becomes available and more IOSCO members contribute to the gateway with their online investor education materials.
