The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has rescheduled its annual conference for November, but won’t decide until late summer whether it will be able to go ahead even then.
Typically, the annual meeting of the umbrella group of global securities regulators takes place in June. This year, the planned gathering in Dubai on June 8-10 was postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event is now scheduled to take place in Dubai on Nov. 16-18.
Registration for the new dates has begun, but IOSCO indicated that it will make the final call on whether it can hold a physical meeting by mid-August.
If in-person meetings are still not possible at that point, the event will take place by teleconference.
“In the unfortunate event that … a physical annual meeting is not feasible due to the continued effects and restrictions caused by Covid-19 in November 2020, IOSCO will arrange for meetings to be replaced by telephone calls to the largest extent practical,” it said.
