The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) will be hosting its first virtual industry conference later this month.
The self-regulatory organization (SRO) will host an online conference featuring a conversation with Quebec Finance Minister Eric Girard, IIROC president and CEO Andrew Kriegler and the SRO’s vice president for Quebec and Atlantic Canada, Claudyne Bienvenu.
That discussion will be followed by a panel session focusing on IIROC’s regulatory priorities, including an examination of the effects of the pandemic on industry regulation. Among other things, the panel will provide an update on various regulatory initiatives, such as IIROC’s efforts to protect vulnerable investors and developing competency profiles for various registration categories.
“This is the first time in IIROC’s history that industry participants from across the country will participate together in pan-Canadian sessions,” the SRO said.
The conference, which will take place on Nov. 27, is free to attend. A webcast of the sessions will be made available after the event. The SRO has also planned a second virtual conference for Dec. 17.
