The Alberta Securities Commission has released the 2006 Oversight Review on the performance of the Prairie Regional office of the Investment Dealers Associations of Canada.

The review is an audit of the IDA prairie regional office and focuses on issues and questions the ASC expects the IDA to address.

The ASC review identified a numbers of issues, such as registration, internal communication and supervision that the IDA needs to address. The results of the review have been distributed to the IDA. A copy of the ASC Oversight Review and the IDA’s response are posted on the ASC website at www.albertasecurities.com. The ASC will follow up with IDA prairie office staff quarterly to go over the progress made on these issues.

“The ASC gives the IDA the authority to help regulate the investment dealers who participate in Alberta’s capital market; with that authority comes an accountability”, says ASC Executive Director David Linder. “The review helps the ASC ensure the IDA prairie office meets the expectations and standards we set for self-regulatory organizations who help us protect and foster a fair and efficient capital market.”
