The Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA) announced today that following an expedited review hearing held on March 20, an IDA hearing panel has reinstated the registration of Gerald Danny Stefaniuk.

At an expedited hearing on March 4, a hearing panel suspended the registration of Stefaniuk definitely. He subsequently requested an expedited review hearing to review the suspension order. At the review hearing on March 20, the panel amended the order suspending Stefaniuk and reinstated him subject to strict supervision by his member firm for an indefinite period.

Stefaniuk’s current member firm is First Canada Capital Partners Inc. in Vancouver.

In 2002, Stefaniuk was a registered representative at Golden Capital Securities Ltd. in Vancouver.

The IDA didn’t say why Stefaniuk was originally suspended, but in a statement it said that it may hold an expedited hearing “where an approved person has been charged with a criminal offence relating to theft, fraud, misappropriation of funds or securities, forgery, money laundering, market manipulation, insider trading, misrepresentation or unauthorized trading, and such criminal charge likely brings the capital markets into disrepute.”

The panel’s written reasons will be posted on the IDA Web site when they become available.
