Moin Mizra has been found guilty by the Investment Dealers Association of Canada for failing to cooperate during their investigation.

The formerly Approved Person at the Edmonton branch of Union Securities Ltd. was elusive on several occasions, until finally making himself available for interview on May 8, 2007. Prior to the interview, he neglected to answer a summons on September 7, 2006, agreeing only to answer questions in writing.

Although Mirza did finally answer questions pertaining to the IDA’s Enforcement Department’s investigation, staff testified Mirza’s defiance delayed the file for eight months.

After the panel considered the evidence, it found Mirza guilty of being uncooperative and intentionally avoiding the request for cooperation. However, no penalties have yet been imposed, they will be determined at a penalty hearing, the date of which is yet to be set.
