Securities regulators in Hong Kong are turning to the web in an effort to help them find people who are wanted by their enforcement department.
The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has launched a new section on its website identifying people who are being sought in relation to enforcement inquiries but cannot be traced. It contains details of individuals who are the subject of arrest warrants or whom the SFC believes have important information that may assist in other enforcement inquiries.
The site currently lists three people that are subject to arrest warrants, and four others from whom it’s seeking information. Once a person is located, their listing will be removed from the site, it says.
“Locating and speaking to people who have relevant information is an important part of our investigation work. We hope the public will help us find people we have been unable to find using traditional methods,” said Mark Steward, the SFC’s executive director of enforcement.
“With the support of the public, I am sure we will be able to enforce Hong Kong’s securities laws more effectively for the benefit of the community,” he added.
