Patrick Déry, superintendent, solvency, with Quebec’s Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), has been elected to the executive council of global policy group the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) at the organization’s latest annual general meeting in Seoul, South Korea.
“The election of our colleague to the executive council of this important international organization is splendid recognition by his peers,” says Louis Morisset, president and CEO of the AMF, in a statement. “Expertise developed at the AMF, particularly with respect to financial co-operatives, is of keen interest to this organization, which formulates international principles for resolution and deposit insurance matters.”
The Basel-based IADI is a non-profit that promotes guidance and international co-operation as a way of enhancing the effectiveness of deposit insurance systems around the world.
Déry notes that his election follows from the AMF’s participation in several IADI bodies over the years: “This has allowed us to share strategies and has given us access to best practices adopted in other jurisdictions.”
The AMF will host the IADI’s annual meeting in Quebec City from Oct. 8–13, 2017.
