Global securities regulators and investor education groups will be meeting in Malaysia next week to examine the recent developments in the ongoing challenge of delivering effective investor education and improving people’s ability to manage their money.
The International Forum for Investor Education (IFIE) and the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) are co-hosting the conference in Kuala Lumpur from May 18 to 20, which will focus on the evolution of investor education, and strategies for increasing the financial capability of investors.
Among other things, the conference will include sessions on: the role of regulators, self-regulatory organizations and central banks in bolstering investor education and financial capability; the role of the private sector; using the findings of behavioural economics; and the particular challenges in emerging markets.
The conference will feature speakers from IOSCO, the IFIE, the Financial Industry Regulator Authority (FINRA), and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), along with various other organizations such as the CFA Institute and Dimensional Fund Advisors Pte. Ltd.
