The statement of priorities for the coming fiscal year will be submitted to the Ontario Minister of Finance in June 2003 and will be published in The Ontario Gazette shortly thereafter.

In keeping with the FSCO Act and the commission’s goal of furthering transparency in the regulatory process, the commission invites interested parties to make written submissions regarding their views as to the matters that should be identified as priorities of FSCO.

Its major priorities are to:

  • promote a coordinated national approach to regulatory issues;
  • apply risk-based approaches when designing operational policies and procedures;

  • amend operational policies and procedures and propose amendments to legislation and regulations to keep up with changes in the marketplace; and
  • make effective use of technology in delivering services.

    FSCO also says, “We will continue to work with the Ontario Securities Commission on initiatives to coordinate our regulatory activities and on the proposed creation of a new regulatory structure.”

    Submissions are due by June 6.
