A hearing panel of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA) has permanently banned an Alberta man and ordered him to pay a fine of $50,000, following a disciplinary hearing held on June 3 in Calgary.
The IDA formally initiated the investigation into the conduct of John D.W. Buskell on July 31, 2007. Buskell was a registered representative with the Calgary Branch of Wolverton Securities Ltd. until he was terminated on February 7, 2007.
The panel found that from February 12, 2007 to the present date, Buskell failed to attend and give information in respect of an investigation conducted by the IDA’s Enforcement Department and/or failed to otherwise cooperate with the investingation;
The panel imposed the following penalty against Buskell:
> a fine of $ 50,000.00;
> a permanent ban on registration in any capacity; and
> costs in the amount of $ 31,836.13.
Buskell is no longer a registrant with an Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada regulated firm.
Created in 2008 through the consolidation of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada and Market Regulation Services Inc., IIROC is the national self-regulatory organization that oversees all investment dealers and trading activity on debt and equity marketplaces in Canada.
