The concept paper of the Ontario Securities Commission’s Fair Dealing Model will be out at the end of June, according to Julia Dublin, manager of the OSC’s Fair Dealing Model project.

Once the paper is out the OSC will establish working groups, for example on transitioning advisors to the new regime, IT changes and compensation. Dublin said the OSC will be looking for volunteers to be part of these groups “and ask all the hard questions.”

She said the Fair Dealing web site (www.fairdealingmodel.ca) has received 306 comments so far from advisors and investors — a very good response for the OSC. Dublin encouraged people add their comments. The web site will be up until June 15.

Dublin was speaking at the founding convention of the Canadian Institute of Financial Planners in Huntsville, Ont.
