The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada says that industry course provider, CSI Global Education Inc., is to start providing examination performance data on its licensing courses.
“To date CSI has not published examination pass rates of IIROC licensing courses because of concerns about how the information might be interpreted or used,” IIROC said in a notice published Monday. “However, based on member firm feedback to both IIROC and CSI, effective today CSI will begin providing IIROC regulated firms certain pass rate information.”
CSI will provide pass rate data on an annual basis to investment dealers for all courses required by IIROC for IIROC approved persons, except courses with relatively small enrollments “as they are not statistically significant.” The data will include the number of exam writers for each course by firm, the pass rate for each course of the member firms’ writers (in aggregate), as well as the average pass rate for all IIROC firms in aggregate.
It says that IIROC and CSI believe that this information “will shed some light on pass rates as to how they may vary over time as well as differ between courses. It can also help a firm ascertain how their employees are doing versus the securities industry.”
Effective immediately, IIROC firms will be able to obtain firm-specific information for the years 2008 and 2009 by contacting CSI.
