The British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) is proposing to require electronic filing of some reports that can currently be filed in paper form.
The commission has published for comment proposed amendments to require all reports of exempt distribution to be filed in the BCSC eServices system, including reports filed on an annual basis by investment funds.
The commission notes that some investment funds are relying on certain exemptions the only require them to file annual reports, which can still be submitted to the regulator on paper.
The proposed amendments would require those reports to be filed online .
The change is being proposed in order to “enhance our review of the exempt distribution market,” the BSCS states in a notice.
Comments on the proposals are due by Nov. 20.
