The Alberta Securities Commission is extending the Ontario Securities Commission’s sanctions against Glen Harper, former president and CEO of Golden Rule Resources, to Alberta.
Harper was banned from Alberta capital markets for illegal insider trading in its shares, by an order of a panel of the ASC. In April 2004, the OSC sanctioned Harper for illegally trading. Harper had been convicted in Ontario provincial court for such conduct back in 2000.
In a decision released June 10, the ASC made the same sanction applicable in Alberta and ordered that Harper is prohibited from acting as a director or officer, is unable to trade (except in personal accounts like RRSPs) and is denied the use of any Securities Act exemptions until April 2019.
Harper is a resident of Alberta and Golden Rule is an Alberta company. The panel in its decision said, “Our objective in this case is to extend protection to the Alberta capital market and the Alberta public.”
