Planned changes to the rules governing advisor-client relationships, the fledgling pot industry and fintech are among the topics being discussed at the Alberta Securities Commission’s (ASC) upcoming annual conference, the commission announced Wednesday.
ASC Connect, to be held at The Hudson in Calgary on Oct. 9, includes a full day of sessions led by senior ASC leaders and industry experts, with a range of topics from the expanding enforcement toolbox to how technology is driving change in the capital markets.
Gordon Griffin, former U.S. ambassador to Canada, will give the conference’s keynote speech on the state of Canada’s relationship with the U.S.
Stan Magidson, ASC chairman and CEO, will moderate a panel on fintech featuring Adam Felesky, CEO of fintech-focused venture capital firm Portag3 Ventures.
Other topics include the Canadian Securities Administrators proposed client-focused reforms, cannabis companies and the latest review of issuers’ disclosure involving the representation of women on corporate boards and in executive management.
