The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has reciprocated a Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) order and permanently banned Terry Lynn Sampson from: advising in securities or exchange contracts; becoming or acting as a registrant, investment fund manager or promoter; and acting in a management or consultative capacity in connection with activities in the securities market.
The ASC order is based on a July 9, 2010 MFDA order that permanently prohibits Sampson from conducting securities-related business in any capacity while in the employ of or associated with any MFDA member.
In a May 30, 2010 settlement agreement with MFDA staff, Sampson admitted that from January 2006 to July 2008 she misappropriated money from the accounts of Scotiabank and Scotia Securities clients.
In its decision, the ASC Panel stated: “In the circumstances, we believe that Sampson poses a risk of harm to Alberta investors and the Alberta capital market.”
