The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is looking for investors that participated in a cryptocurrency mining venture that’s been accused of violating securities laws.
The AMF has issued a call for investors in a crypto mining scheme carried out by Opération Phoenix inc.
On Aug. 28, Quebec’s Financial Markets Administrative Tribunal issued cease trade and freeze orders against Opération Phoenix inc., amidst the AMF’s allegations that the firm may have violated securities laws.
The AMF has alleged that the firm sold units to investors that would entitle them to receive income from its crypto mining activities.
The regulator said that it’s still investigating the case, and it has asked investors to contact its investigator “as soon as possible.”
