The Autorité des marchés financiers is warning consumers to be cautious about dealing with an unregistered insurance firm.

The Quebec securities regulator issued a warning last week about solicitations from Nagle & Associates Insurance Company, and its representatives, Ferdinand Blake and Thomas Finley. The regulator says that the company and its two officers are not registered as a firm or as representatives in personal-lines damage insurance, nor in any other sector with the AMF.

“Their solicitations and the nature of the products being proposed by them may be violations under laws administered by the AMF,” it says. Although, it notes that it has not received any complaints from Quebec consumers who have done business with the firm.

Nevertheless, the AMF says that the firm is alleged to have sent documentation concerning an automobile insurance policy underwritten by Jevco Automobile Insurance Co. to a resident of Woodbridge, Ont. However, it notes that Jevco has not conducted any business with Nagle and has no insurance policies in connection with this company.

And, it warns that the address provided on Nagle’s website does not exist and the telephone number given to customers is out of service.
