The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) on Wednesday announced the appointment of Moad Fahmi to the new position of director, fintech and innovation.
Fahmi will co-ordinate the work of the AMF’s fintech working group, and chair its techological innovation advisory committee.
The fintech working group includes six major projects: blockchain technology; mobile payment solutions and virtual currencies; fundraising platforms; automated insurance and investment tools; regtech; big data and connected devices.
The advisory committee is charged with providing emerging companies with guidance, and supporting innovation at the AMF.
“This new function will foster the collaboration that is essential to developing Quebec’s fintech ecosystem,” says Louis Morisset, president and CEO of the AMF, in a statement. “It is good news for our Fintech Working Group, the industry and the academic research milieu.”
