The Alberta Securities Commission reports that the Securities Amendment Act 2007 has received third reading in the province’s legislative assembly and is expected to receive Royal Assent in the near future.
The ASC says that the amendments advance the harmonization and streamlining of securities legislation across Canada. A number of the amendments will support a proposed rule overhauling registration requirements and the registration provisions of proposed rule implementing the passport system. These amendments will come into force on proclamation, the ASC notice says.
The other provisions in the bill are designed to enhance harmonization or are technical or housekeeping amendments, it adds.
