An Alberta court has convicted Philip Archer of two counts of trading in securities in violation of an Alberta Securities Commission order. The order specifically prohibited Archer from trading in securities at the time.
On Dec. 13, 2005, Archer was convicted of both offences by Judge Millar of the Provincial Court of Alberta, Criminal Division. The judge imposed house arrest as prescribed by the court order on Archer, ordered him to cease trading in securities for 10 years and prohibited Archer from using any of the exemptions in Alberta securities law for a period of 10 years.
