(October 25 – 14:30 ET) – More
than 2800 financial planners and
industry-related professionals from
around the world have gathered
for the International Association
for Financial Planning’s 1999
forum in San Antonio, Texas.

A speech by former British Prime
Minister John Major opened the
conference. Major was highly
critical of media-driven politics.
Government policy, he argued, is
often carried out to achieve
good sound bites. Instead of doing
what is good for the people, he
contends that far too much time
is spent with political
commentators.

Get ready for a market boom
next year, Dr. Robert Goodman,
Managing Director, and Sr.
Economic Advisor of Putnam
Investments,
told delegates.
It could go on for the next 5-6
years, he said. He expects the
U.S. economy to grow stronger.

In his opinion Y2K will be the
biggest non-event in history.

Entitled “Journey into a Dynamic
New Century,” delegates are in San
Antonio from Japan, France,
Malaysia, Italy, Argentina,
Greece, South Africa and the
U.K.
