The Investor Education Fund is partnering with the University of Western Ontario to give Ontario teachers educational resources to teach youth about investing and money management.
The Investor Education Fund will work with Western’s Faculty of Education to help them enhance their online Additional Qualification (AQ) teacher courses. This three-year project involves integrating many educational materials already developed by the fund into business courses accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers.
“Our partnership brings together educators and financial experts alike to ensure our online AQ course content is objective and relevant,” said George Gadanidis, chairman, Continuing Teacher Education, University of Western Ontario. “By incorporating more financial content into the curriculum, and using our technological capacity and expertise to offer it as an interactive and dynamic experience, we can help teachers pass along investment and money know-how to the investors of tomorrow.”
“This partnership really is a win-win situation,” said Terri Williams, president, Investor Education Fund. “The Investor Education Fund develops unbiased educational material that teachers can use in their classrooms. Now Western is integrating our content into their current online courses for teachers, increasing the number of teachers and students who have access to our content. The goal in the end is to increase the number of students who understand and retain practical money management skills.”
