Intuit Canada, the tax and personal finance software firm has assembled a team of Canadian legal experts to help develop WillExpert, comprehensive software designed to create valid wills, enduring Power of Attorney, Personal Care Directive, and other documentation associated with wills.
“It’s as intuitive and easy-to-use as our QuickTax products,” said Chris Wilkinson, spokesperson for Intuit Canada.
“We incorporated our patented EasyStep interview, a process that uses a series of easy-to-follow questions. We built-in full-motion videos that provide expert information. We’ve included answers to hundreds of questions. There’s even on-screen tax and retirement planning information. And it’s all provided in plain language,” Wilkinson added.
Each copy of WillExpert can create legal wills for two people. The wills can be changed or updated whenever a person feels it’s necessary, at their own computer, in privacy.
The software helps users choose and appoint a legal guardian for their children. It will help them specify optimum asset distribution and management for family members, and it can help them decide who’ll make the best executor.
When it’s complete, a hard copy is printed and signed by two witnesses. Intuit says there is no need for a lawyer to review or sign the will, and that it is valid in all provinces except Quebec.
