The Financial Planners Standards Council is reporting a 54% pass rate for the Certified Financial Planner Examination given on Nov. 9, 2002.
The FPSC says that of the 1,419 individuals who wrote the CFP exam in November, 767 passed. Of those writing the exam for the first time, 63% passed.
The list of successful CFP candidates will be published in the Globe and Mail on Thursday, January 16.
“Congratulations to all the successful candidates. This examination is a critical component of the CFP certification process and it is rigorous — testing candidates’ knowledge, analytical skills and judgment,” said Cary List, FPSC vice president, standards and certification.
The six-hour CFP Examination is administered in both official languages twice a year. The November Examination was held in 56 centres across Canada.
Topics covered reflect the knowledge, skills and professional competence required in the current practice of financial planning as established by CFP professionals and academics from across the country.
The next scheduled CFP Examination is on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Registration closes on May 7, 2003.
