Just over 55%, or 616, of the 1,114 individuals who wrote the Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC) Certified Financial Planner examination on June 5 passed, the FPSC announced today.

Of those writing the exam for the first time, 60.23% passed.

The list of the 616 successful CFP candidates will be published in The Globe and Mail on Thursday, September 9.

“Congratulations to all the successful candidates. They are now one step closer to earning the designation acknowledged throughout Canada and internationally as the gold standard for competence and ethics in financial planning,” said Cary List, Executive Vice president and COO, FPSC, in a news release.

The six-hour CFP Examination is administered in both official languages twice a year. The June examination was held in 55 centres across Canada. Topics covered reflect the knowledge, skills and professional competence required in the current practice of financial planning as established by CFP professionals and academics from across the country.
