Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, says it will attract over 1,000 professional financial advisors to its 2006 National Conference in Victoria, British Columbia, from June 14–17.

The four-day conference at the Victoria Conference Centre and the Empress Hotel is being held in conjumction with the association’s annual general meeting.

Advocis is celebrating 100 years of promoting professional standards and advocating for Canadian financial advisors. In celebration of this milestone the theme of the conference is “Celebrating a Century of Helping Canadians”.

This year’s keynote speakers include Preston Manning, Paul Desmarais, Jr., Joanne Thomas-Yaccoto and Bruce Etherington.

There are feature presentations and speakers on insurance planning, practice management and investment and money management.

As well, interactive sessions on financial planning feature planners sharing their expertise and presenting award-winning case studies.

A number of networking and social events will provide advisors the opportunity to learn from their colleagues.

The association’s annual general meeting (AGM) will take place on Friday, June 16 at 3:30 p.m. Expect announcements coming out of the AGM include the induction of the new chairman and board of directors.
