Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Todd Ferguson has been named executive vice-president and national manager at Wellington-Altus, after being appointed to the role on an acting basis earlier this year. He joined the firm as senior vice-president and regional manager two-and-a-half years ago. Ferguson is a 25-year veteran of the financial services industry, with previous stints at Manulife as managing director, advisory services and Scotia Wealth Management as managing director for Western Canada. Wellington-Altus also announced two other executive appointments: Michael Boydell as executive vice-president, growth and performance strategies and Blaine Arnold as executive vice-president, corporate development.
  • Steve Rowles has joined Wellington-Altus Private Counsel as a senior portfolio manager. Rowles has more than three decades of asset management experience with expertise in institutional and private wealth, most recently with Guardian Capital Advisors Ltd.
  • Chris Haines has joined Raymond James Ltd. as a senior vice-president and national director, independent financial services. Haines comes from CI Assante Wealth Management, where he was regional vice-president for Western Canada for nearly three years. He’s also held regional and district-level VP roles with Sun Life, Sentry Investments and AGF Management Ltd.
  • Jonathan Roberts has joined Manulife Investment Management as a district vice-president. He was previously director, intermediary distribution with BMO Global Asset Management. Before that, he spent nearly nine years at Fidelity Investments.
  • Two new directors have joined the board of investment manager LetkoBrosseau. Colleen Johnston, a former CFO of TD Bank, brings more than two decades of experience to the board. Roger Renaud was previously president for Canada and global COO of Manulife Asset Management.
  • The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario has selected four new members for its consumer advisory panel: Samuel Lichtman, founder of Millen Wealth Advisors; Karina Souza, a data professional and consultant with experience in the banking industry; Edwin Weinstein, president of The Brondesbury Group; and Liisa Woolley, senior vice-president of strategic initiatives with Northern Credit Union. The new members will serve for two years, and replace outgoing members Chris Robinson, Udia Umoette, Laura Tamblyn Watts and Todd White.
