  • Susan Allemang has retired as director of policy and regulatory affairs with the Independent Financial Brokers of Canada (IFBC) after 20 years. The organization credits Allemang with elevating its profile among finance professionals, regulators and industry stakeholders, and recognized her as a “fierce champion” of the independent distribution channel. She moved to IFBC in September 2004 after spending eight years with the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan as senior manager of pension policy.
  • The Federation of Independent Dealers has named its board of directors for 2025. Robert Smuk, president of Agora Dealer Services Corp., will again serve as board chair. Also appointed to the board are: John Adams, financial representative with PFSL Investments Canada Ltd.; Élisabeth Chamberland, head of compliance with PEAK Investment Services Inc.; Bill Charles, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Global Maxfin Investments Inc.; Nelson Cheng, CEO of Sterling Mutuals Inc.; Michael Konopaski, co-founder and director of Designed Securities Ltd.; Richard Pyper, CEO of Monarch Wealth Corp.; Krissy Sukhraj, director of marketing and corporate strategy with Keybase Financial Group Inc.; and John Webster, president of Queensbury Securities Inc.
  • The Ontario Securities Commission has named the members of its Registrant Advisory Committee for 2025–2026. They include Alexander Morsink, managing director with Equivesto Canada Inc.; Andrew Auerbach, CEO and co-founder of Delisle Advisory Group; Arjun Saraf, chief compliance officer (CCO) with Integrated Equities Inc.; Denise Carson, CCO with BMO Asset Management and BMO Investments Inc.; Joe DaSilva, CCO with Sprucegrove Investment Management Ltd.; Julie Mansi, partner with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP; Kelly Reynolds, chief operating officer and CCO with Hillsdale Investment Management Inc.; Mary Joyce Empensando, CCO with Questrade Wealth Management Inc.; Nancy Mehrad, CEO of Registrant Law Professional Corp.; Naomi Bartlett, senior vice-president, CCO and chief privacy officer with IGM Financial Inc.; Patrick Keeley, president and CEO of Seven Hills Capital Corp.; Peter Dunne, director, Private Capital Markets Association of Canada; and Victoria Paris, general counsel with the Portfolio Management Association of Canada.
