VersaFi, formerly known as Women in Capital Markets, has named 20 “Champions of Change” for 2024.
The advocacy group bestows the award to recognize corporate leaders for their dedication to advancing gender equity within their firms and across the finance sector.
This year’s winners represent 10 organizations: Bank of Montreal (capital markets and wealth management divisions), PwC Canada, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, EY, National Bank of Canada, CIBC Capital Markets, Bank of Nova Scotia, RBC Capital Markets, TD Securities and Manulife.
Tanya van Biesen, president and CEO of VersaFi, said in a release that the underrepresentation of women in finance, particularly at mid and senior levels, continues to be an issue and that addressing it will ensure valuable talent is not left behind.
“Our 2024 Champions of Change winners understand this and are striving to change the status quo,” van Biesen said in a release. “By leading committees, and acting as sponsors, mentors and allies, they demonstrate the power of innovation and creativity, reminding us of the value of fostering a culture of inclusion — and in doing so, are helping to ensure that our talented women are able to contribute, thrive and advance at all levels.”
