FP Canada has added two new executives to lead branding and the organization’s educational institute.

Hillary Dawson has been appointed to the newly created role of chief brand officer, and Tom Hamza is the new executive director of learning, development and innovation, and head of the FP Canada Institute.

Ralph Vizl, who last February was appointed to head the FP Canada Institute and lead the organization’s branding as chief strategy officer, left in November.

FP Canada split the role into two separate positions: the institute head and chief brand officer, a spokesperson said in an email.

Dawson, whose career spans policy, public affairs and branding, will be responsible for brand image and experience for FP Canada. She’ll oversee marketing, communications, industry relations, policy and government relations, as well as student and certificant support.

Hamza will be responsible for building out the institute, a division of FP Canada launched in 2019 to elevate the practice of financial planning. Hamza’s responsibilities will include developing new programs and services to deliver on the institute’s mandate.

Hamza’s career spans consulting, financial services and operations, and he’s past-president of the Ontario Securities Commission’s Investor Education Fund (which merged with the Office of the Investor in the OSC in 2014). During his time as president, he was also co-chair of the Ontario government’s working group on financial literacy.
