John De Goey has been appointed chair of the board of directors of the FP Canada Research Foundation (formerly known as the FP Foundation), a registered charity that funds financial-planning research.
De Goey, a portfolio manager with Toronto-based Wellington Altus Private Wealth, will serve as chair for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, succeeding François Beauregard. He has been a member of the foundation’s board of directors since 2017, serving most recently as vice chair.
“I’ve dedicated my entire career to incorporating evidence-based thinking and best practices into the work I do, so I was eager to take the opportunity to serve as chair of the FP Canada Research Foundation’s board of directors,” De Goey said in a release.
Caroline Dabu, vice president and head of enterprise wealth planning at BMO Wealth Management, has been appointed vice chair. Carolyn Fallis, a professor at the School of Accounting and Finance at George Brown College, joins the foundation’s board as a new director. Both are based in Toronto.
Returning directors include Cary List, president and CEO of FP Canada, as secretary and treasurer; Jocelyne Houle-LeSarge, president and CEO of the Institut québécois de planification financière; and Daniel Collison, managing partner of Advice2Advisors.
