Michael Pieciak, Vermont Commissioner of Financial Regulation, has been elected for a one-year term as president of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), the the umbrella group of state and provincial securities regulators announced Wednesday.
In his inaugural address, Pieciak described himself as “NASAA’s first millennial president” and said he intends to modernize the group’s operations, alongside initiatives targeting millennial investor education, cybersecurity, financial technology and cryptocurrency enforcement.
NASAA will launch a campaign next year to commemorate its 100th anniversary, he added.
Pieciak announced that he has asked the group’s board to establish a new strategic planning committee “tasked with reviewing our bylaws, committee structure, policies and procedures and engaging our membership in order to develop a strategic plan to help guide NASAA into its next 100 years.”
Pieciak also announced NASAA’s leadership for his term. The new board of directors includes: President-elect Frank Borger-Gilligan of Tennessee, Past president Joseph Borg of Alabama, Treasurer Tom Cotter of Alberta, Secretary Pamela Epting of Florida, Travis Iles of Texas, Bryan Lantagne of Massachusetts, Melanie Senter Lubin of Maryland and Tanya Solov of Illinois.
