Jim Turner, former vice chairman of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), industry lawyer Harold Geller and long-time investor advocate Terri Williams are among the new members of the OSC’s seniors expert advisory committee.

The OSC announced the 2018-2019 membership on Wednesday. The committee provides advice to the commission on policy, education and outreach issues related to senior investors.

Geller, who specializes in investor issues at MBC Law Professional Corp. in Ottawa, was formerly a member of the OSC’s Investor Advisory Panel, and currently sits on the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments’ Consumer and Investor Advisory Council. Williams was previously president of the OSC’s Investor Education Fund.

Will the OSC deliver for seniors?

They are joined by a variety of experts in aging and health, lawyers, consultants, and industry personnel, including: Marta Hajek, director of operations with Elder Abuse Ontario; Kelley Keehn, consumer advocate at the Financial Planning Standards Council; Laura Tamblyn Watts chief public policy officer at CARP; Danielle Tetrault, assistant vice president, compliance investigations and chief compliance officer, Investors Group Financial Services Inc.; Minal Upadhyaya, vice president, policy and general counsel, Investment Funds Institute of Canada; and  Lindsay Rogan, managing director and chief compliance officer of Rogan Investment Management Ltd.
