Unitholders of Cartier U.S. Equity Fund and Cartier Global Leaders RRSP Fund will vote this month on a proposed merger that would see the two funds rolled into Cartier Global Equity Fund. Toronto-based Goodman & Co. Investment Counsel Ltd. says the merger will eliminate overlap and achieve cost-efficiencies because the funds have similar investment objectives. Should the proposal meet shareholder and regulatory approval, the merger is expected to take place May 27. Cartier Funds, launched in 1999, and MultiPartners Portfolios (which include Cartier Funds and funds from six leading companies), launched in 2002, have $500 million in assets under management.
