Toronto-based BlackRock Asset Management Canada Ltd. has expanded its iShares business with the launch of a new suite of minimum-volatility exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Canada that track minimum-volatility indexes created by MSCI. iShares MSCI Canada Minimum Volatility Index Fund, iShares MSCI USA Minimum Volatility Index Fund, iShares MSCI EAFE Minimum Volatility Index Fund, iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Minimum Volatility Index Fund and iShares MSCI All Country World Minimum Volatility Index Fund offer investors an opportunity to retain equities exposure in their portfolios while seeking to reduce the overall risk from holding equities. The new offerings extend iShares’ lineup of market-cap and fundamentally weighted, broad-market products. The new funds, says BlackRock, can help provide a portfolio with downside protection while maintaining some exposure to the upside price movement.
