RBC Financial Group and CI Investments Inc. are launching RBC CI Multi-Callable Deposit Notes, Series 1. The notes are linked to the performance of four funds managed by CI: Signature Select Canadian Fund, Signature High Income Fund, Signature Dividend Fund and Signature Corporate Bond Fund. “These notes are a terrific addition to our lineup and will appeal to our conservative investors who are perhaps holding high levels of cash and like the comfort of principal protection,” says David McBain, senior vice president of CI Investments and president and CEO of Skylon Advisors Inc. in Toronto. “They will also be attractive to fixed-income investors who may be a bit ‘sticker shocked’ with today’s low interest rates,” he says. The notes will provide 100% principal protection. Investors may receive a 7% annual return if RBC calls the notes during any of four call periods over their 6.5-year term. If the notes aren’t called, investors will receive the full growth percentage of the basket at the maturity date. Early trading fees are 4.5% in Year 1 and decline to zero after Year 3. Advisor commissions are 4%, with no trailer and a 2.95% MER. Minimum investment is $1,000.
