Bank of Nova Scotia has announced that Brian Porter, its head of international operations, has been promoted to president of the bank. He takes over the role from Rick Waugh, who will continue in his role as CEO. The move was effective Nov 1. Porter, who has been with Scotiabank since 1981, has held a variety of management positions at the bank in areas such as wholesale; international, personal and commercial banking; and global risk management. Most recently, Porter had served as the bank’s chief risk officer. His international operations portfolio will be taken over by Dieter Jentsch, who previously oversaw the bank’s Latin American operations.
