Jean Boivin, formerly a deputy governor of the Bank of Canada, has joined the federal Department of Finance Canada to become an associate deputy minister. Boivin began working at Finance Canada on Oct. 25. He was named deputy governor of the central bank in March 2010 after first serving as a special advisor to the governor. Previously, Boivin was a member of the monetary policy council at the C.D. Howe Institute and was a professor at HEC Montreal, the business school at the Université de Montréal.
