Toronto-based Manulife Mutual Funds has given Roberto Sanchez-Dahl, managing director and senior portfolio manager, and Paolo Valle, managing director and senior portfolio manager, both with Manulife Asset Management, the portfolio-management responsibilities for Manulife Emerging Markets Debt Fund. The fixed-income portion of Manulife Emerging Markets Balanced Fund also will be managed by this new team, which will report to Christopher Conkey, global chief investment officer of Manulife Asset Management. Both portfolio managers will work out of the Boston office of Manulife Asset Management. Prior to their appointments, both Sanchez-Dahl and Valle held portfolio-management roles with Pittsburgh-based Federated Investment Management Co. Manulife Asset Management’s new emerging-markets debt team is the firm’s third addition to its portfolio-management teams this year.
