The Autorité des marchés financiers says that a couple of bids for some of the assets of iForum Securities Inc. have been accepted.

The AMF says that the bid made by Industrial Alliance Securities Inc. for assets of Valeurs mobilières iForum inc. was accepted. Also, the joint bid made by Quadrus Investment Services and Great-West Life Assurance Company for assets of Services Financiers iForum inc. was also accepted.

“These agreements are conditional on securing legal, regulatory and corporate approvals, as necessary, and all parties involved in these transactions have undertaken to do so as promptly as possible,” it says.

The announcement follows the word that a hearing panel of the Quebec District of the Investment Dealers Association after holding an expedited ex parte hearing on November 30, has ordered the suspension of the membership of iForum Securities Inc. and trading with the public.

“However, considering the appointment of a monitor by the ministre des Finances du Québec, and considering the authority already exercised by the latter with respect to the operations of iForum Securities Inc., as part of the mandate entrusted to it by virtue of the law, the operations may continue, subject to the maintenance of restrictions previously imposed by the IDA for the protection of the public,” it said.

The suspension of the membership of iForum Securities Inc. is effective immediately.
