Brian Porter assumed his roles as president and CEO of Toronto-based Bank of Nova Scotia on Nov. 1. He was appointed president in November 2012 and elected to the bank’s board of directors in April 2013. Porter has held a number of positions within the bank since joining it in 1981. These include executive roles with global banking and markets, global risk management, group treasury and international banking. Porter succeeds Rick Waugh, who will remain on the board of directors until Waugh’s retirement in January 2014.
