RBC Capital Markets today announced that top-ranked bank analyst Jamie Keating will be joining RBC Capital Markets’ effective February 10. Keating will cover the Canadian banking and financial services sectors.
“Jamie brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge that will strengthen the existing RBC Capital Markets team and allow us to expand our North American coverage and deepen our impact in the largest sector in the Canadian stock market,” said Steve Garmaise, global head of research RBC Capital Markets.
Keating has spent the past 10 years at Merrill Lynch Canada and its predecessor firms. He is widely recognized for his expert analysis of the Canadian banking industry and is regularly quoted by the national media.
As senior Canadian and financial services analyst, Keating will be primarily responsible for providing integrated coverage of the entire Canadian financial services sector.
He will work closely with a three-person team at RBC Capital Markets that includes:
- Katia Ivanova, who will continue her responsibilities as an analyst covering the life insurance and mutual fund companies;
- Kate McKellar, who will join Jamie from Merrill Lynch as a senior associate, primarily responsible for the banks; and
- Mike Popowych, who will continue as a senior associate, primarily working on the life insurance companies and fund companies.
Keating will also collaborate with RBC Capital Markets’ highly regarded US banking research team to provide a cohesive North American view.
