CI Investments Inc. today announced the launch of Portfolio Select Series, an investment program that combines strategic asset allocation with enhanced customization options and a tax-efficient investment platform.

“Portfolio Select Series goes beyond other strategic asset allocation programs by giving investors and their financial advisors an enhanced ability to customize their chosen portfolio, resulting in an even better fit with their investment objectives,” said Peter Anderson, CI president and CEO, in a release.

The new product is built on the CI Corporate Class platform, providing tax efficiency and allowing investors to rebalance and switch between funds in non-registered accounts without triggering a taxable event. Investors will not incur capital gains until they redeem from the CI Corporate Class structure. Investors may choose from among more than 40 CI Corporate Class Funds to customize their core portfolio, allowing for a solution that is fully tailored to their investment objectives.

The customization process is guided by the Portfolio Select Series software, which has risk management tools that allow investors to make informed investment decisions without incurring undue risk.

The series offers a choice of nine strategically constructed core portfolios designed to maximize returns for a given level of risk using sophisticated portfolio optimization methods. The portfolios are built on four exclusive investment pools managed by top money managers, including Kim Shannon of Sionna Investment Managers Inc., who was named Morningstar Fund Manager of the Year for 2005; CI’s Signature Advisors; Synergy Asset Management; Altrinsic Global Advisors, LLC; Epoch Investment Partners, Inc.; Trilogy Advisors, LLC; and QVGD Investors Inc.

Other portfolio managers, such as Gerry Coleman of Harbour Advisors and Bill Miller of Legg Mason Capital Management, may be added to client portfolios through the customization process.

The four underlying multi-manager pools, which are diversified by asset class and investment style, were created specifically for Portfolio Select Series. They are Select Income Managed Corporate Class, Select Canadian Equity Managed Corporate Class, Select U.S. Equity Managed Corporate Class and Select International Equity Managed Corporate Class. The equity pools are style-neutral and will be 100% invested. The U.S. and international equity pools will also feature 50% currency hedging.

The fee structure for Portfolio Select Series is identical to that of the CI Corporate Class mutual funds.

Investors in Portfolio Select Series will receive detailed quarterly reports with personalized portfolio performance. The program requires a minimum investment per account of $50,000.
