Laurentian Bank has launched a new guaranteed investment certificate, the Trust Plus ActionGIC, whose return is based on the performance of a private portfolio of trust units.

The portfolio includes trust units from a range of industries such as real estate and energy. As there is no maximum return, the holder obtains the full return from the portfolio. The actively managed portfolio is periodically reevaluated to keep its performance at an optimal level.

The term of the certificate is five years, and the minimum investment is $500. The investment is RRSP eligible and is available exclusively from Laurentian Bank.

The capital of this GIC is fully covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corp.
