The junior TSX Venture Exchange posted a 34.4% increase in market capitalization during 2005.

TSX Group Inc. said the total value of TSX-V equities at year-end was $34 billion, up from $25.3 billion at the close of 2004.

Trading volume for the year rose 26.1% to 21.55 billion shares, and the dollar value of those trades swelled 43.5% to just under $15.7 billion.

During the year, the S&P/TSX Venture composite index advanced 22.5%.

There were 165 new listings on the TSX-V in 2005, up from 142 in 2004, and the value of new equity financings increased 46.6% to $6.16 billion.
