AIC Limited announced Wednesday portfolio management changes to two of its international funds. AIC Global Advantage Fund will be managed by a team under the direction of Jonathan Wellum, chief investment officer, while AIC World Equity Fund will be managed by a team led by Anne-Mette de Place Filippini, vice president and portfolio manager.

The RSP-eligible and Corporate Class versions of these funds will also be managed by these portfolio team members. Neil Murdoch, former executive vice president and portfolio manager, has decided to leave AIC to pursue other opportunities.

“Given the depth of our portfolio management team, this transition will have minimal effect on these AIC Funds,” said Michael Lee-Chin, chairman and CEO. “As we have said from day one, our approach is guided by our investment philosophy and is very much team-oriented. Neil was a member of the team and we wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Lee-Chin added.

AIC Global Advantage Fund, introduced in 1999, currently has assets under administration of approximately $170 million. The fund currently invests in the global financial services sector, including insurance, securities brokering, banking and wealth management. Members of its portfolio management team will include Christopher Lowe, senior vice president, and Greg Placidi, senior investment analyst.”

Lowe joined AIC in 2002 bringing with him more than 20 years of corporate, retail and investment banking experience, mostly with Barclays PLC. Lowe earned this Bachelor of Arts Degree in banking, insurance and finance from the University of North Wales and an MBA from University of Exeter.

Placidi joined AIC in 2001 with more than 12 years of experience analyzing and evaluating insurance companies. Placidi is a Chartered Financial Analyst with an Honors Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queens University and an MBA from University of Toronto.

AIC World Equity Fund is to be managed by a team whose lead portfolio manager will be Anne-Mette de Place Filippini. She joined AIC in 2000 with more than one decade of strategy consulting experience and has a BA and MA in Economics from Copenhagen University. She currently manages AIC Global Balanced Fund and AIC Global Diversified Fund.

Additional team members on AIC World Equity Fund are to include Lowe; Placidi; Patricia Lamont, vice president and portfolio manager; and Geoff Castle, senior investment analyst.
